All About English Bulldogs

The bulldog was first given it’s name in 1567 by England residents. The English Bulldog was originally breed and used for bull baiting.

Bull baiting was a form of entertainment in England. The English Bulldog would bite a ring that was hooked to a bull’s nose and try to suffocate the bull. Bull baiting was deemed a barbaric sport and was banned in 1835. The English Bulldog was then breed to be a family pet and a show dog.

English Bulldog’s are know to be be short in stature but very stocky. Another well know characteristic of an English Bulldog is it’s very wrinkly face. The English Bulldog comes in a variety of coat colors from white to brindle.

A mature English Bulldog male and female weighs from 55 – 80 pounds and is 12 – 16 inches long.

English Bulldogs are great family pets and get along with children very well. They have no problem being around other pets or environments where there may be a crowd of people. Unlike some other bull breed dogs the English Bulldog is a very playful and charismatic dog.

The English Bulldog can not take extended periods of time in the heat. English Bulldog’s can easily overheat and which will cause fatigue. Due to problematic health issues it prefers cooler climates which makes it a necessity to be an inside dog.

English Bulldogs tend to breathe and snore very heavily and this is a trait you will need to grow accustom to. Along with the snoring English Bulldogs pass gas and some can be prone to drool.

You will need exercise the English Bulldog to maintain a healthy lifestyle. If it does not receive regular exercise English Bulldogs will gain weight which in turn could lead to serious health problems. A healthy Bulldog will live about 10 – 11 happy years.

English Bulldogs suffer from several health issues that may need to be addressed. Two health problems that English Bulldogs are prone to is hip dysplasia and elongated soft palate.

Hip dysplasia is a genetic flaw that is caused from abnormal hip joint development when a puppy. This will cause the Bulldog to walk stiff or almost look like it is bunny hopping when trying to walk. Hip dysplasia can be corrected through a surgical operation that can be expensive.

When a Bulldog has an elongated soft palate this will cause stressed breathing. The palate can be corrected by surgery and should be an easy fix if detected early. This is generally an easy fix and is not to expensive when compared to the
corrective surgery for hip dysplasia.

One last area that will need attention is the folds on the English Bulldogs face. These folds need to be regularly cleaned and checked for any hot spots or sores. They tend to get filled with dirt and anything else the Bulldog rubs it’s face in.

An English Bulldog is a wonderful pet and will bring you many years of happiness if well cared for. I would not recommend a Bulldog for a first time pet owner unless you are ready for the responsibility or a medium – high maintenance pet.

Nintendo DS – Nintendo Wii Games For 2009 – Review of Game Titles and Projected Schedules

The news has been out about the new Nintendo DS, and new Nintendo wii console game releases for 2009.

Nintendo had announced the complete projected schedule for all Wii and DS titles releases for the first quarter of 2009. While last Q1 saw the megaton release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this year Nintendo-published titles are not as rampant. But is complimented by the fact that some of the gaming industry giants are releasing a series of cross platform titles in 2009. The Wii de Asobu series is aimed to be positioned as the New Play Control series, so Nintendo Gamers can get Wii-vamped Mario Power Tennis and Pikmin soon.

On Nintendo DS, we have Personal Trainer: Math, which is kind of entertainingly academical and also a match for die hard Pokemon Platinum fans. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is proving to be contender for the hot list of games as well.

Nintendo’s first-party efforts are of course exciting enough, and the good news is that lots of interesting third-party games were slated for the Q1 window. The list goes on with Onechanbara, Little King’s Story in the Puzzling Adventure, MadWorld, Henry Hatsworth, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time and more. The development looks more promising for Wii and DS games than last year.

Nintendo’s game lineup for early 2009 has Pokemon Platinum at the top

New releases also include an additional play control, Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis for Wii, Fire Emblem for Nintendo DS. Continuing it’s commitment to create fun and highly engaging entertainment for everyone, Nintendo of America Inc. unleashed a broad list of exciting new games for the first quarter of 2009 as announced on 17th Nov’2008. Topping the hot list is Pokemon” Platinum version for Nintendo DS”, a remarkable new entry in the most successful Pokemon series. Nintendo’s roster of more than 100 new games is an impressive culmination of challenges and experiences for all loyal customers and new ones. Mentionable titles include the enhanced new play control, Mario Power Tennis, Pikmin for Wii, Personal Trainer: Math and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Fire Emblem, Shadow Dragon for Nintendo DS.

“Our fans expect a diverse selection of entertainment options, and we’re eager to deliver exactly that”, were the words of Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. He also confidently added, “We’re building on the momentum of a strong holiday season by offering new and experienced players an even greater library of game titles in 2009″.

Pokemon, one of the iconic game series which started from a 2-D format has come a long way. Pokemon lovers in particular have a lot to cheer about. As a follow up of the vastly popular Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl games, Pokemon Platinum is the newest in the core series. This game features new adventurous stories, never-before-seen manifestations of powerful Pokemon including the legendary Giratina’s Origin Forme and the Distortion World, a mysterious new world that suddenly appears in the Sinnoh region. The excitement doesn’t stop at this. Up to 20 players can interact with other Pokemon fans from around the world using the the new Wi-Fi Plaza, featuring mini-games and activities. Players can also enjoy the new features in the Global Terminal. For example, by posting battle videos using the new “Vs. Recorder.” In addition, Pokemon Platinum features a new Battle Frontier, where the gamers can test their skills in toughest possible ways. Pokemon Platinum has already broken previous Nintendo DS sales records in Japan, by selling more than 1 million copies in the first two days of release.

For the portable Nintendo DS, Personal Trainer: Math is a twist in the tale. It is special because it is academically oriented, allowing the players to sharpen their brain power. Thus enriching their lives and helping them learn new skills in fun and interesting ways. Personal Trainer: Math introduces 40 fast-paced exercises to give gamers the most entertaining way to improve their arithmetic skills. Also for Nintendo DS, the Fire Emblem loyalists will also enjoy the arrival of new Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, a re-designed version of the NES classic, featuring touch-screen controls. Players with a broadband Internet connection can enjoy worldwide battles over Nintendo’s online gaming service as well.

For the Wii console, Nintendo has two classic Nintendo GameCube games to offer, namely Mario Power Tennis and New Play Control. The enhanced New Play Control- Pikmin game allows players to point the Wii Remote controller at the screen and use it as a cursor, thus making it easy to select either a single Pikmin or an entire fleet of army. If a player tosses Pikmin, they fly wherever the cursor is pointed at. New Play Control Mario Power Tennis has it’s their favorite characters from the Mushroom Kingdom, complete with motion-controlled serves and swings. What is more exciting is that with Wii controls, players can literally swing the Wii Remote controller to hit forehands and backhands and to apply spin as well. Experienced gamers can also attach a Nunchuk controller to imitate real life action.

Third-party developers continue to bring diverse, creative games like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time from Square-Enix for Wii and Nintendo DS. These games offer unique multiplayer features across all Nintendo platforms. Madworld from Sega is a release meant exclusively for Wii, and the highly popular Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars from Rockstar Games is designed for Nintendo DS.

The iPad, Truly the Next Generation of Technology

For years the world speculated whether or not Apple Inc. was going to release a tablet computer. Rumors ran rampant if even Apple was developing a product like that or not. Then in April 2010, Apple shocked the world with the release of the revolutionary device. The Apple iPad introduces a brand new way of doing things on a tablet computer, instead of a traditional stylus, the iPad is completely controlled by a users finger. Comes with a beautiful large screen, and can even double as a e-book reader. The question is whether this product is worth the wait, or just another hyped up piece of technology people say we should buy? Let me tell you my friends, this is the real deal!

After being available for pre-order in early March 2010, the world was eagerly waiting to get their hands on the brand new device. During its opening weekend release, the Apple iPad sold over 700,000 units! Very impressive figures considering most people did not exactly know all the device could do. What makes the iPad revolutionary is the multi-touch interface it has built in. Everyone knows good and well how to use their hands and thats all the prior knowledge you will need in order to manipulate the device. Apple took the software platform they perfected touchscreen interface with from the iPhone, and up scaled it to the iPad. The tablet looks amazing with a very sleek and simple design. The screen takes up just about all of the front besides the Home button, and the back seems to be crafted well out of aluminum. The device weighs in at about 1.5lbs and does not feel cheap at all, a staple in Apple production, it feels durable, but at the same time light enough to carry at any angle. The screen though is the main focal point of the iPad coming in a beautiful 9.7 inch LED back lit IPS. The colors are vibrant and very pleasing to the eyes. Apple has toted this device as an E-book killer. Meaning once you read a book on the iPad, you will not want to do it any where else. And by all means its very true, you can adjust the brightness on the fly depending on your personal preference and the text shows up well on the big screen.

If you aren’t familiar with “apps”, these are the applications that Apple along with many other 3rd party developers create for Apple products. But why buy an ipad when you can get a free iPad? Right out of the box the iPad can run just about all of the 150,000 apps currently available for the iPhone and iPad Touch. Truly something for everyone. Along with many special apps developed just for the iPad, these apps are the REASON you will want to get your paws onto the iPad. From Google Maps to watching streaming movies from Netflix, this device seems to do almost everything your computer can do, all while in a portable shell that’s a visual masterpiece. One cool App comes from Marvel Entertainment with their app that allows you to view eye-candy rich graphic novels and comics that almost play like a movie. The iPad might not be a laptop replacement for everyone, but if you are like most internet users out here who mostly surf the web, listen to music, catch up on news, and play games online, this is the device for you. The best entertainment experience you can have that is portable, trust me.
