Brown Paper Publishing is now taking submissions for PREDICATE, a quarterly literary journal that seeks to expose new voices in literary fiction, poetry and criticism. Each issue of PREDICATE will be 100 pages, perfect bound (5.25”x8”) with full colour glossy cover and black and white interior pages. PREDICATE retails for $14.00 and will be available through bookstores and online booksellers.

PREDICATE is seeking submissions of short fiction (excerpts from either complete or incomplete novels are also accepted), short non-fiction (preferably with a narrative quality, we are not so much looking for “articles” about things), poetry, literature and drama criticism (we prefer criticism of contemporary literature and drama, but consider all works of criticism) and cinema and television criticism. The general lengths for submissions are as followed (though exceptions can be made for works either shorter or longer):
Short fiction: between 2000 and 5000 words
Novel Excerpts or Novellas: between 10,000 and 40,000 words
Theatre: any length
Poetry: any length
Literary or Film Criticism: between 1000 and 5000 words
All accepted authors will retain the rights to their work. One complimentary copy of the issue in which an author’s work appears will be sent to the author.
Some authors whose work is not selected for the print edition of PREDICATE will be extended offers to have their work appear in the PREDICATE ONLINE EDITION.
PREDICATE is distributed through the same channels as the books published through Brown Paper Publishing. Hard copies will be available to the growing list of bookstores that have a distribution relationship set up directly with the Brown Paper Publishing and each issue will be available to all booksellers through several distribution sources. Each issue of PREDICATE stays In Print and will be listed as In Stock through Amazon.com, Borders.com, Booksense.com, and through dozens of independent bookstores.
