An independent literary press representing the works of contemporary, progressive novelists, poets and playwrights, BROWN PAPER PUBLISHING is dedicated to the idea of an artist’s work being presented exactly as envisioned by its creator and a literature that addresses, directly, unexplored aspects of the human condition.

Literature, to us, is something that must be a direct expression of an individual concerned, wholly, with the craft and nuance of the art form and something that must be created entirely outside of the demands of any marketplace. Ideally, literature is something that should be created without regard for publication, distribution, critique or even readership. The artists we represent are individuals who have created significant bodies of work and who remain deeply involved in creating new work, simply for the sake of literary progress. We present every work by every author we represent, regardless of length, theme, style, genre, and are further dedicated to publishing every work they continue to produce, never soliciting any specific type of novel, play or poetry and never requiring changes to the content of any work. The literature we showcase is the pure, unadulterated statement of the individual. It is the raw gaze of the artist at the world and at themselves.
